6 Reasons Why Travelling Abroad Is a Good Idea

Travelling is always a good experience and one should always try and visit new places whenever they get the chance to do so but traveling to another country is one thing everyone should get to experience at least once in their lives.

These experiences might come in handy sometime later in life and prove to be really beneficial personally as well as professionally. Some of the reasons are listed below.

1. You Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone

Breaking out of your comfort zone can be pretty scary and challenging but it’s one thing we as individuals really need to do. The people we are surrounded by and the overall environment around us, we become so familiar with it that even an ounce of unfamiliarity does not sit well.

The important thing to learn here is to unlearn what you have learned and absorb the changes and what better way to do that than to travel to an entirely new country with new people that you know nothing about.

It can be intimidating at first but once you realize you can click with a person and the vibes match irrespective of differences, it might prove to be a really life-changing experience.

2. It Boosts Your Confidence

Adapting to a foreign land means having to travel by public transport, shop for self, including grocery shopping which in itself is growing your confidence. It might scare you a little at first trying to understand a foreign language and then to make them understand what you want to say too.

Tell yourself that you can do this and be confident even if you cannot speak the native language. Try to have a conversation with someone. It could be your neighbor or someone on the bus or the mall. You will find out things about yourself that even you didn’t know you possessed.

3. Adds To Your Growth

You experience growth on a personal as well as professional level, you realize what actually matters and so many ground realities open up in front of you. Your discovery of a new country, people, culture, traditions will open new avenues for you and the simultaneous discovery of a new you that you didn’t know before.

All of this and new phases of life will unfold before you giving you a new perspective on life in general.

4. Develops Cultural Sensitivity

Cultural sensitivity refers to “Being aware that cultural differences and similarities between people exist without assigning them a value”

Travelling enables a person to understand that while they may be experiencing a culture shock, the way to move forward and embrace this change is to accept these differences as they are. They do not even have to mean anything to you but just mere acceptance that they exist is enough.

It makes you less judgmental and you become respectful of people belonging to different religions, cultures, traditions as yours. This is such an important thing because only then do you begin to truly embrace the change.

5. Good for Health

Travelling has an overall good effect on the well-being of a person. It relieves stress and anxiety. It is often advised to people who feel unwell to travel somewhere for a while and they would feel better.

That changed in the environment has a positive impact because we are no longer living in the same situation or circumstances and it helps you disconnect from the daily routine that you had. Sometimes it’s just better to let everything be and go out for peace. Anyone can get frustrated by the same old routine of work and life in general and might need some time off from this, one of the best ways is to take a step back and breathe. Tell yourself that it is okay to want to disengage with all of this hustle and bustle of life every once in a while.

6. Interesting Stories to Tell:

Even if you’re not much of a conversationalist, traveling to a new country will get you to experience so many new things that every day, every new encounter with literally anyone will be a whole new story in itself and sometimes without you even realizing it. These times also change your perspective on a lot of different things. The behavior of people, the norms, their ‘normal’ and ‘abnormal’.

It gives you a good conversation starter with someone new as well. Your stories might inspire someone else, who had been delaying traveling abroad, to finally book a flight, pack a bag and leave.

All in all, ttravelingabroad should always be encouraged as there’s literally no harm in wanting to visit different places, experience different cultures, food, the changes do help a lot in your physical as well as mental well-being.
