5 Things You Must Do On Your Next Trip To Egypt

If you’ve ever dreamed of standing in the shadow of the Great Pyramids or exploring the Valley of the Kings, then a trip to Egypt should be high on your bucket list. But with so much to see and do, it can be hard to know where to start.

To help you plan your trip, here are 5 things you absolutely must do when you travel to Egypt.

Visit the Pyramids of Giza

No trip to Egypt is complete without a visit to the Pyramids of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The pyramids were built over 4,500 years ago as tombs for Pharaohs Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure, and today they remain some of the most iconic structures in the world.

Spend a day exploring the site and learning about its fascinating history. And be sure to take a camel ride around the pyramids for a truly magical experience.

Explore the Valley of the Kings

The Valley of the Kings is located on the west bank of the Nile River in Luxor. It was used as a burial ground for Pharaohs and their consorts from around 1500 BC to 1075 BC. Today, it’s one of Egypt’s most popular tourist destinations thanks to its stunning tombs and hieroglyphics.

Be sure to visit at least one tomb while you’re there – we recommend King Tutankhamun’s tomb which is known for its beautiful art and artifacts.

Float Down The Nile River

No trip to Egypt is complete without a float down the Nile River. The river is symbolic of life itself in Egyptian culture and has been an important part of life in Egypt for centuries. Today, there are plenty of ways to enjoy it – from traditional felucca rides to luxurious cruises.

Whichever way you choose to travel downriver, sit back and relax as you take in all that Egypt has to offer.

Sample Some Traditional Cuisine

Egyptian food is hearty and flavorful, with influences from both Arab and Mediterranean cuisine. Be sure to try some traditional dishes like koshari (a rice, pasta, and lentil dish), molokhia (a green soup made with chicken or rabbit), and ful medames (stewed fava beans). And don’t forget dessert! Lotus flowers are often used in sweets like baklava and basbousa (semolina cake).

Visit Abu Simbel

Abu Simbel is an ancient temple complex located in Nubia, southern Egypt near Sudan. It was built by Ramses II between 1264–1244 BC as a monument for himself and his queen Nefertari and originally had four statues each over 65 feet tall situated at its entranceway.

Today two of those statues still remain along with many well-preserved paintings and hieroglyphics inside the temple complex making it a must-see for anyone traveling to Egypt.

Egypt is a country full of history, culture, and natural beauty that should be experienced by everyone at least once in their lifetime. With so much to see and do, it can be hard to know where to start – but these 5 things should definitely be on your list when planning your next trip.

From exploring the Valley of Kings to floating down the Nile River, there’s something for everyone in this truly magical place.
